| Taking Care of the Environment |
| We define our trips as eco Tours. The environment is extremely important for Miralejos Chile Adventure and our guides enjoy sharing their knowledge of Chilean ecology, native plants, wild life and the effects humans have had in the ecosystem.During our trips it is not unusual to see unique species which are in danger of extinction. Nature can be very fragile and we therefore make our trips as eco friendly as we possibly can, following all minimal impact techniques and leaving no trace.
| We leave no trash. Trash does not exist in nature, everything changes and goes back to the ground. We call trash anything that does not belong to the place in a natural way and we therefore take all waste back with us, including that left by others by mistake. |
| |
| If toilets facilities are available we use them if not, we burry our body waste alt least 20 cm deep and at least 100 m from the nearest water course, away from camp, paths or shelters. |
| |
Fire is part of the Mule Driver and Gaucho culture and it represents a moment of comfort and reunion thus it is common that local guides look for wood to light a fire. A bone fire must be as small as possible, using only dry wood and in case that there is a trace of a previous fire we use it so as not to increase the impact. |
| Once we are finished, the fire must be put off with water and covered with dirt. |
| |
| Avoid lake and river pollution |
| When we wash or clean, we carry some water away from its course. The water is thus drained in the land which works as a filter. We take care to leave no unburied food waste or we take it back with all our trash. |
| |
| We will make sure to choose an adequate and safe place to set our camps. We will try not to disturb the fauna and choose a place which has already been impacted. We will not stay longer than two days in the same place and when we leave, we make sure to leave no trace. |
| |
| We will follow the existing paths not to harm the fragile plants around us. We will walk on a row and where there are no paths we will spread in order not to step the same place many times and thus minimize our impact. |
